Glass Options for your Double Glazing As technology continues to advance, we are now able to offer a variety of double-glazed units that can enhance both security and soundproofing. We also have options for obscure glass to provide additional privacy.

Security Glass
We offer an upgrade to Secure by Design for all ground-floor windows and doors that may be vulnerable to intruders or anti-social behaviour. This upgrade meets the same specifications as those required for new builds under Document Q. Additionally, all external glass units are fitted with laminated glass and low energy-rated glass on the inside, along with Argon gas to meet the U-Value requirements outlined in Building Regulations Document Lb1 & 2.

Sound Proof Glass
Pilkington Optilam™ is a noise-reducing product suitable for reducing noise levels in various scenarios. The product is effective in situations where there is excess noise from sources like road, rail or air traffic, factories, nightclubs, neighbours, or in built-up areas with the sound of police and ambulance sirens. The laminated glass contains a specially designed PVB (PolyVinyl Butyral) interlayer that provides excellent noise reduction without compromising on light transmittance or impact performance. When used with our Insulation tape, it is designed to eliminate up to 43db in the sound transfer, making it a better option than triple glazing, in our opinion.

Obscure Glass Pilkingtons have two categories: Texture Glass Range and the more expensive Orial range.

Texture Glass Range
Pilkington's Glass provides a wide selection of designs to choose from. They offer 21 different designs, including traditional patterns such as the builder's favourite Arctic and Stippolyte Texture Glass. Additionally, they have a contemporary range that includes Chantilly or Pelerine and two new designs: Tribal and Cassini. All of the designs are available in toughened or laminated options for safety. The textured glass is designed to allow maximum light while maintaining your desired level of privacy or obscuration, rated from 1 to 4.

Oriel range.
The Oriel Collection features high-quality etched glass designs that provide excellent light transmission and varying levels of privacy. Each design is functional and attractive, with a range of modern opaque appearances. All designs in the Pilkington Oriel Collection have a smooth and durable surface, ensuring a uniform finish that is perfect for use in a variety of domestic and commercial applications, such as splashbacks, displays, balustrades, partition walls, en-suites, loft conversions, office screening, doors, and new or replacement windows.

Really great job done by Peter and his team. They replaced all the windows in our 3rd floor flat, quickly and matching the old design exactly. Peter provided very helpful advice as to which type would be best for our needs (we went for double glazing with extra accoustic glass) and he also gave us a full break down of the pricing etc. Not at all pushy, just a decent window fitter who did a very professional job.
